PSA: Time to Stop the Violence towards Our Animal Friends

Updated: Dec 1, 2023

Hello, folks! Hope you are doing well. I have something new for you as you always like to view. Today, I'm going to write a bit about a prevalent term in many kinds of media: PSA!

PSA is the acronym for Public Service Announcement, functioning as an informative tool that informs people and drives them to act against a given issue.

As you would guess, we as a group of three, namely Ertugrul Igdır, Sude Filiz and me, chose to make a PSA in Educational Technologies class about animal violence in Turkey. There were other 2 options, which are "How To Projects" and "A Fictional Story".

Now, let's come to the process. We first formed the group and brainstormed on the topic options. Then, PSA seemed the best choice for us because its affordances were more than the other two. We brainstormed afterwards on the topic and we decided to make a PSA about "Animal Violence in Turkey". Sude wrote the script, I found the appropriate pictures to use, and Ertugrul did the editing, subtitling and adding sound records, music and subtitles on Canva. Canva was also a useable app for us to create our PSA and we didn't have any difficulty in finding the proper app and using that proper app.

However, there was an adaptation process while discovering the app as a natural part of the progress. Furthermore, we had to delete some parts of the script to make it shorter due to the time limitation but we managed it after all. Ertugrul was ill and there was a problem with his voice. We also tackled this issue and we completed our records after the rehearsal. Long story short, it took 3 hours to complete this awesome task.

Well, I would definitely assign my future students to make a PSA as it has several advantages such as keeping in touch with the agenda of the country you live, collaboration and task division, video editing and recording skills, writing skills, brainstorming, etc. We experienced these advantages as well and we enjoyed the process a lot. Hope you like our PSA and get informed to take action!

So, that's all I can say for today guys. By the way, this is the task before the last one. I feel a bit sad but I know that we'll meet in the next new chapters. I'll write one more post about a digital movie poster and my last final post about an overview of the course I took this semester. Stay alert, folks! Take care!
